| From the Beginning....
"Masonic history is a long one, we are the most ancient and moral institution that has ever existed. The weight of history is a great one, as is the responsibility of the future"
Ionic lodge was conceived just after the end of World War 1, when Bro. Paul E. Lumsden and Bro. Arthur J. Lainchbury on an electric car from Galt to Brantford discussed the idea of another Blue Lodge in Hamilton.
After much work by many Brethren many of whom would become charter members, Ionic Lodge was Instituted May 7, 1919. Right Worshipful Bro. J. Gauld presided at the institution of the twenty member lodge. The Officers regalia was graciously loaned to us by Temple Lodge until such time as we could acquire our own. From this time until September 1920 the lodge worked under dispensation from Grand Lodge. September 1920 Ionic Lodge was dedicated and consecrated by Right Wor. Bro. H. Graham with many Grand Lodge officers in attendance. The first election of Officers was held Wed. November 3rd 1921 and, was conducted by Right Wor. Bro. E.C.
